Soap 101

By Stephanie | Luka Soaps, The One I Love

Matt and I have been working on our business a lot lately. He asked me to teach him to make soap, so that he’d be capable of doing it if necessary. Tonight we went through the whole process together. It was a lot of fun having a soap making partner! We made another batch of

Road trip? What road trip? Haha. We got up today and went to breakfast lunch as planned. It was just great. Rainy, dreary days are so relaxing. Matt and I discussed heading out on Route 66 but decided to wait for a sunny weekend. Instead we hung out at Shades for the afternoon. I worked

I’m so excited!  I met with Tiffany at Eco Baby this morning and she agreed to carry my soap in her store.  She’s got Lavender right now but we will be adding more scents in the future.  We are also working on another couple of products that I’ll tell you about after we’ve done a

Soap Keeps Us Clean

By Stephanie | Luka Soaps

A few years ago I made some Green Tea- Patchouli soap. Patchouli isn’t my favorite scent in the world but I liked it mixed with the Green Tea. I wanted to make some again but this time around I decided to try making it with a Green Tea decoction instead of the fragrance oil. The

The first few batches of soap I made were interesting. The Peppermint turned out to have some issues with turning to goo in the shower. I pulled it from Shades of Brown and will probably use it personally until it’s gone. The Lavender and Clove Oatmeal bars are wonderful, but I decided to mess with

I made another batch of soap today.  It looks and smells good.  I’ll admit, I’m making my favorites.  Haha!  I adjusted the proportions of the recipe again.  I’m pretty sure I got the right amount this time around. Been working on the website tonight.  I wish I was further along than I am.  I wish

Scheduled Creativity

Tonight I have a number of graphics projects to complete.  Oh man.  I tend to do better when I have an idea and do it right then and there.  Spontaneity is my middle name.  When I have things that really need to be done, it always takes me longer and I’m never as happy with

Trial and Error

Even though I’m happy that both batches of soap didn’t turn into pounds of slop, I’m upset that they didn’t turn out exactly as I had hoped.  Grrr.  The lavender is pretty much perfect, they are just a little bit short, but they do have girth, so I guess we’re fine.  No, I didn’t.  Hehe.

2nd Batch: Peppermint

By Stephanie | Luka Soaps

I just finished a batch of peppermint soap. It smells so good! I added a bit of color to it and I’m nervous that I added too much. I don’t want pink bars!! I’ll uncover it in the morning and check. I’m sure to have anxious dreams with pink bars of soap in it tonight.

1st Batch: Lavender

By Stephanie | Luka Soaps

I finally made a batch of soap! When I did it a few years ago, I made nearly 50 bars in a batch. I had so much soap in my house!  I had planned on starting a business but we decided to go to Korea and so I ended up giving it all away when
