Several of my friends made a movie. Like a real movie. And it is really, really good! It’s called The Rock’n'Roll Dreams of Duncan Christopher. Matt and I went to the premiere at The Method Fest 2010 (an independent film festival in Calabasas, CA). We expected it to be good but it was so much more than that… we loved it!

The film was funny, the characters endearing, the story brilliant. Matt’s a movie quoter and he walked away cracking up over a bunch of the lines. Another thing I loved was seeing our old ‘hood on the big screen. How cool! I spent a total of 8 years in Tulsa and miss a lot of things about it. They filmed Duncan Christopher when we were still living in Tulsa and I really regret not being an extra. How rad would it have been to see myself in the background? As I recall, I was working when they needed people. Lame. Haha.

Also… Matt and I have been watching more of the Olympics this year than ever before. Go USA!!

As a matter of fact, about a month ago I was dreaming and didn’t like that I accidentally drove myself off a cliff and died, so I consciously rewound my dream for a do-over. That’s pretty huge for me. Kudos for not waking up freaked out that I died in my dream. Again. I’d always heard that you can’t die in your dreams, if you do, you are actually dying.  I am still alive, I think, but it always freaked me out.  I’ve died about four times in my dreams but this last time was the only time I was able to turn it around.  I never want to get hurt or die in my dreams so it’s pretty neat to know that I can control them and don’t have to wake up distraught.

In January I bought a book on dreams and a journal to record my dreams each morning.  I have paged through the book but haven’t cracked the journal.  Now that I’ve gotten a handle on everything else going on (ha!), I think I’m going to make a go at tracking my dreams.

Ashlie J is a blog I found awhile back. I’m not sure how I got there but it was a good find. She’s in Minnesota and I love checking out the things she shares and looking at the pictures she posts. A part of me would love to go back to my home state and reaquaint myself. It’s hard to believe it’s been 12 years since I moved away.

“The Killer in Me” is being filmed downtown today. Kate Hudson, Jessica Alba, Casey Affleck and Simon Baker are in it… not sure which are in town though. I have a couple of errands to run but hoping to cruise over there and see what I can see before work. Read the story at newson6.com.

We traded in our Honda this weekend and came home with this Toyota Matrix. Matt and I drove all over the place yesterday. Driving around without a destination is one of our favorite past times. I love it!

Tulsa got some ice again this year. Thankfully it hasn’t been as crazy as last year. That whole seven days without power thing really sucked. Matt’s classes have all been canceled this week, so we’ve stayed home, all warm and cozy. Well, except for this afternoon, when I realized I didn’t have any Coke in the house. I wanted to walk but Matt wasn’t fond of the idea. He started the car but it was obvious it was going to take quite some time for it to warm up and for us to get the ice off the windows. I oohed and ahhhed out the window at our beautiful winter wonderland until finally Matt said he’d walk with me! Yahoooo!

We bundled up, he grabbed his camera and we walked to Sonic. It was so much fun! I wanted to lick the ice… tasted like ice. It sure is pretty though. We got pretty cold on the way back but our house felt so warm in comparison!

Right before we left the house, we looked online at what our choices would be. The only film that we weren’t sure of was Seven Pounds with Will Smith and Rosario Dawson. I knew Will Smith was in it but I didn’t know anything else. We watched the trailer and thought it looked pretty good. Matt said, do you suppose it’s such and such? And I was like, yeah, but it kinda looks like such and such.

Let me stop right here and let you in on one of my pet peeves in life. I really, really dislike it when people give away movies or TV shows. It drives me nuts. Oh, I hate it. So, tonight when I shared my idea of what I thought it could be, I really never thought it would be that.  A few scenes into the film, we both realized that I was dead on. This is the first time that I’ve ever predicted anything correctly. Except for maybe Babe, I knew how that was going to end too.  Hehe.  I didn’t feel cool about this one though, I felt bad that I had ruined the movie for Matt. Uhhhhh. Even though we knew what was going on, we still enjoyed it. Both of us left with a bit of a sniffle. Maybe there were allergens in the theater or something. Who knows. ;)

I think we’re going to make it a point to see more movies in the theater.  We both love going.  My main reason for not going was always money.  When I say I’m cheap, I mean it.  Actually, the reason we even “remembered” the theater was because I won a gift card at work.  So that’s what got us off our booties and into the theater.  There were a couple of previews that looked promising too.  I don’t want to set too lofty of a goal, I’m thinking we should shoot for something doable, like quarterly.  Haha.
