“It’s a bit hazy today,” was my first thought after looking out the window this morning. Before I started shouting “yellow dust“, I went to a yellow dust website to look at the stats for today. It seems that everyone blames the yellow dust for everything these days. If it’s dark out, it’s the yellow dust, if they are coughing, it’s the yellow dust, if it looks yellowish outside, it’s the yellow dust. I’m no scientist but I think people are too quick to proclaim the days issues to be yellow dust related. It actually kinda bothers me. The other day everyone was freaking out about how bad the yellow dust was, but when I checked the site, it said there was barely any dust. Either the site is messed up or people are too quick to blame China the yellow dust.
The site this morning showed that the yellow dust had spiked. So this is the real thing, and it’s nasty, nasty stuff. The pic on the right is what it looks like normally. Today is considered “very unhealthy”, especially for kids and the elderly. We’re supposed to avoid any physical activity outside or any prolonged exertion. I guess that puts my 5 mile mountain run on hold for today… darn it! Most people outside are wearing those cute surgical masks, although I read they don’t keep any of the fine dust particles out… oh well… suppose it doesn’t hurt anything. Matt and I are staying home today but I’m pretty sure our apartment is saturated as well. Oh well… I guess I’ll just try to hold my breath for long periods of time.
