Happy New Year!
The holidays are over and I don’t know about you but I’m really looking forward to the new year. It’s always great spending time celebrating Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years but by the time I get to the point where I’m at right now, I’m thankful it’s over and we can back to normal. Whew, we made it!
January marks the beginning of my three day weekends at work. This is not a permanent schedule change but it should last until baseball season starts. At least my fingers are crossed for that. I don’t mind working two hours more per day to get that extra day off. I feel like I have so much more time to get stuff done, chill, see friends and sleep. Today I slept in past noon and it felt so good. I worked over 50 hours last week. I worked a lot over the holidays. So happy that’s done too.
So today I decided to sleep in and take it easy. Not stress over all the things I think I should be doing and just do whatever. I usually get more done with that kind of a mindset anyway, so it works out well. I will not bore you with the details of my day but I will say that I tore down all of the Christmas decorations and got everything downstairs back into shape. It feels so good! So clean. So free of clutter. But kind of empty. I like to think of ourselves as living minimally but basically it’s just that I’m picky and cheap. Nothing we see in the stores is good enough or I can’t justify paying the price they are asking (either it’s expensive cheap crap or it’s awesome but way over what I can afford). Matt and I talked about it and decided to make our home a priority this year. We’re going to get some more furniture, put up curtains, get a bedroom set and decorate a bit. Uh, I’m not so great at all this. I know I like something when I see it but I’m not the best at creating something from nothing. Matt is better at that, so I’m sure we’ll come up with something we like.
Matt goes back to school next Monday. He’s really excited about this semester because all of his courses are in Criminal Justice. I’m trying to brace myself for all the information I’m going to be hearing about crime scenes. Ew. Actually, I find it all extremely interesting and I’m so proud of him. The best thing about his career choice is that I’ll get to sing The Who constantly. Haha!
Now, I plan to indulge in my secret guilty pleasure for the rest of the evening. I found The O.C. online. Californiaaaaaaaaa….

I know how you feel about the new year!
Good luck with all your house decorating! I’m kind of jealous. My house always looks super empty when I take down the Christmas decorations too, and I wish I had more moolah to devote to making it homey. Oh well… soon enough I guess!
Have fun with it!
Oh man, don’t be jealous quite yet! Haha.
